Staging IS Important – But It’s Not Everything

As any fan of home improvement or real estate television will tell you, “staging” is a buzzword they have heard a million times–but don’t necessarily understand. With so many articles, television shows, Pinterest boards, and Instagram feeds dedicated to home staging tips, it’s easy to think that selling your home is as easy as baking some cookies and putting a vase of flowers out on the counter. However, the reality is a little more complicated than that.

Woodstock home staging

At The Premier Group, our Woodstock Keller Williams Realty team has years of experience in all aspects of residential real estate, including effective home staging. Read on to learn just how important staging your home to sell can be… As well as the limits of staging.

  • Staging is about showing your home in its best light, but your home needs to be able to stand on its own without any of the trappings of staging. That means it needs to be impeccably clean and in good repair. When staging your home for sale, keep it simple and honest. Fresh paint, clean carpets and windows, minimal clutter, and a tidy yard can work wonders.
  • Good staging is intended to show off your home’s assets to best effect and help potential buyers envision themselves living in your home, NOT to show off your interior design skills, no matter how lovely they may be.
  • Location and price also have a huge impact on how quickly your home sells. You can’t just rely on staging to speed up your sale, so talk to your Realtor about your goals and how you can price and market your home accordingly to best achieve those goals.
